Numbers are read out loud in English as follows: - One - Two - Three - Four - Five - Six - Seven - Eight - Nine - Ten - Eleven - Twelve - Thirteen - Fourteen - Fifteen - Sixteen - Seventeen - Eighteen - Nineteen - Twenty
For multiples of ten, you say the tens and then "ty": - Twenty-one - Thirty - Forty - Fifty - Sixty - Seventy - Eighty - Ninety
For larger numbers, you read the hundreds first, then the tens and ones, omitting the word "and": - One hundred twenty-three - Three hundred forty-five - Six hundred seventy-eight
For very large numbers, you read them in groups of three digits: - One thousand two hundred thirty-four - Three thousand four hundred fifty-six - Six thousand seven hundred eighty-nine
Keep in mind that in numbers over a thousand, the hyphen is optional, but common: - 1,234 - 3,456 - 6,789
Always read the decimal point as "point": - 1,234.56
For numbers like percentages, you might say: - Twenty-five percent
For fractions, you can say: - One over two - One-third
And so on.
